1. Super Bowl I

NY Jets 16, Baltimore 7 - Line: Baltimore by 19 1/2

The Jets forced five turnovers to keep the 13-1, 258 points record breaking Colts offense off the field. Matt Snell rushed for 121 yards on 30 carries protecting New York's early 10-0 lead. Joe Namath did not throw a pass in the 4th quarter. A late Johnny Unitis comeback fell short. The Colts were 24-2 in '68-'69 so experts had disrespected the Jets & AFL as inferior. The shocking victory legitimized the AFL.

2. Super Bowl XLII

NY Giants 17, New England 14 - Line: New England by 12

The Giants executed their ball control offense with a Super Bowl record 9 minute, 59 second opening drive. Their league leading, sack creating defense launched a ferocious attack on Tom Brady and his 18-0 record breaking offense, holding them to 7 points through three quarters. Brady found Randy Moss with a go-ahead TD with 2:39 remaining that set up MVP Eli Manning's last minute 35 yard pass David Tyree caught off his helmet. Plaxico Burris caught the game winning 17-yard TD pass with 35 seconds left.

3. Super Bowl IV

Kansas City 23, Minnesota 7 - Line: Minnesota by 12

The Chiefs defense dominated Super Bowl IV surrendering only 67 yards rushing while forcing 5 turnovers. Offensive mastermind Coach Hank Stram had employed double coverage of Vikings star defensive ends (Eller/Marshall) and had his quarterback & game MVP Len Dawson (12 for 17, 142 yards) throw short passes to neutralize their pass rush.  The Vikings had outscored opponents by 246 points & sported a 24-4 record in '69 & '70. Oddsmakers, weary of the Jets "fluke" upset of the Colts in Super Bowl III the year before, gave the Chiefs little chance.

4. Super Bowl XXXVI

New England 20, St. Louis 17 - Line: St. Louis by 14

The long shot Patriots were energized by Ty Law's first quarter pick-6 & early lead. Bill Belichick's defensive scheme to launch a relentless physical pounding of the Rams "Best Show on Turf" receivers early, threw off the Rams league leading offense. The Rams outgained New England 427-267 in yardage and overcame 3 turnovers to rally to tie the score in the final 2 minutes. Then the Patriots rode Tom Brady's last minute drive which culminated in Adam Viniateri's dramatic game winning field goal.

5. Super Bowl XXXII

Denver 31, Green Bay 24 - Line: Green Bay by 11 1/2

Game MVP Terrell Davis overcame a migraine headache to rush for 157 yards & 3 TD's, the game winner with 1:45 left. The Packers squandered a 7-0 lead via 2 turnovers and trailed 17-7, a deficit they would not erase until early in the 4th quarter. Their last drive stalled on the Denver 31 yard line and Denver had it's first Super Bowl in four tries and 1st for the AFC in 14 years. The heavily favored defending champion Packers became the heaviest favorite to lose the Super Bowl in 14 years ('69 Vikings).

6. Super Bowl XXV

NY Giants 20, Buffalo 19 - Line: Buffalo by 7

MVP Giants RB Otis Anderson rushed 21 times for 102 yards as the Giants held the ball for a record 40 minutes, 33 seconds as the Giants came back from a 12-3 deficit. The Giants defensive mastermind Bill Belichick schemed 4-7 & 2-9 defenses to stop the Bills 428 point (95 in 2 playoff games) K-Gun offense. Seventh start Giants backup QB Jeff Hostetler was 20 of 32 and a TD. Scott Norwood missed a 47-yard field goal with 8 seconds left. Zero turnovers and only 4 penalties mark the best Super Bowl ever played.

7. Super Bowl XXVIII

Oakland 38, Washington 9 - Line: Washington by 3

The Raiders Marcus Allen shredded the top ranked Redskins rush defense for a Super Bowl Record 191 yards on 20 carries and ran 74 yards of it on a riveting, swirling third quarter touchdown. The Redskins were down after 5 minutes of play due to a blocked punt which resulted in a Raider touchdown. Washington sealed their fate when with 12 seconds left in the half from their own 12 yard line, they ran their "Rocket Screen" pass play which the Raiders remembered from their regular season game. Oakland LB Jack Squirek picked it off for a pick-6 & a commanding 21-3 lead the Redskins never recovered from.
